The OrganoRice project has identified safe rice production as a valuable intermediary stage on the path toward full organic certification. Under the Safe Rice scheme, conventional agricultural inputs are kept at a minimum to reduce chemical residues in the soil before starting the organic transition. Recognizing its relevance for lowering barriers for farmers and markets, the project integrates Safe Rice practices and analyses the impact in the ongoing research.
