The OrganoRice consortium has met with farmers, DARDs, the People Committee of the three provinces (Dong Thap, An Giang, and Vinh Long), and LotusRice Company to discuss next steps in converting 30 ha in each province to organic rice production. While small scale experiments for optimal fertilization, organic pest control, selection of suitable rice varieties are already brought on its way, the large scale implementation needs agreement on all levels, whereby a breakthrough was made during the meeting. All involved partners committed themselves for the conversion and contract will be made soon. Therefore, the implementation at the large scale of organic production can start with the next growing season.
